"Consulting with God"

2 Samuel 5:19 ~ So David inquired of the Lord, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?" And the Lord said to David, "Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand."
We as Christians, children of God, have got to have a daily dependence on God. It is of vital importance to consult Him in all of our doings. In all things, in all circumstances, we've got to consult God for direction. Many times it may not be His will for us to go forward.. but yet we continue on anyway.
Many times certain things arise in our lives that we decide we will handle things "our" way. Unfortunately, when we do, all we end up doing is making a bigger mess of things.
When David consulted, or inquired of God about going up against the Philistines... God gave him the go ahead. David knew that when he went against the Philistines, he was not going to be defeated... he knew victory was his because God was working on his behalf. When we fight God's battles, we need to make certain that it is God's battle and not ours.
Had David not inquired of God, perhaps the results would have been very different. He would most likely have been defeated. But because he put God first, God helped him overcome.
Let's learn to consult God in all matters so that we can continue to live a life of victory after victory.
After all, if God is for us, who is against us?
